Language, Culture, Landscapes
New online course starts October 31, 2025. Join in!
Examples of seminar activities: Concept map of the Slovenian term ‘potok’, author: Marija Debeljak and the German term ‘Fels’, author: Eva Rathgeber
How we describe our landscapes and all things connected to them is not something that exists in an isolated or objective place -- it’s embedded in our identity and culture.
A deep understanding of the different concepts and perceptions of landscape from one country to another is an essential professional asset that will only become more important in the increasingly borderless future of our global profession.
Even exploring one word – landscape – can reveal a complex web of meanings and cultural, physical, geographic and political connotations.
This course is offered every fall from October to December as part of the IMLA programme.
We are happy to receive participants from diverse places around the world to share our discussion.
